What’s This $100 Million Settlement?

Why Did It Happen?
The lawsuit claimed Verizon’s extra fees, starting at 40 cents per line and rising to $3.30 by 2022, weren’t properly explained. Customers felt tricked because these charges weren’t in the advertised plan prices, breaking trust. Verizon denied wrongdoing, saying the fees were clear in contracts and marketing, but settled to avoid a long legal fight. The payout compensates customers for these surprise costs, though some say the $100 cap is too low.
How to Know If You Were Eligible
You might have qualified if you met these criteria before the deadline:
- Account Type: Had a Verizon postpaid wireless or data plan (not prepaid).
- Time Period: Used Verizon between January 1, 2016, and November 8, 2023.
- Fees Paid: Were charged an administrative or telco recovery fee.
